BOOK A LIVE PERFORMANCE
Okay, so here is a little glossary with [almost] every necessary information for promoters, booking agencies and event organizers. I wrote this so you can get a glimpse about my project, the music, the experience, how I work, what I offer – basically everything you might need for us to work together. If you have a special request, I’m open for every [reasonable] idea. Just use the contact form below.
I try to answer all your possible questions here.
SO WHAT DO YOU PLAY?
I play synthwave music. I assume you are familiar with the term and the sound, but if not, that’s no problem. I’d suggest reading this thorough article written by Iron Skullet, to get you acquainted with this musical genre.
In absolute layman’s terms: imagine the Terminator driving a 1984 Lamborghini Countach with a hot girl beside him, engaging in a car chase shootout on Sunset Boulevard during sunset in a post-apocalyptic age. Well, this is what plays in the background.
My music is usually fast, synthesizer-based, and dynamic, incorporating a lot of 80s cyberpunk elements into both the sound and the visuals. The general concept of the sound revolves around futurism, retrocomputing, videogames and dystopia.
HOW DOES THAT LOOK LIKE?
This is a one man project. I play the keyboard and various synth modules on stage, while the music is accompanied by real-time visuals, which are also controlled by me. This means that the visuals are always synced to the music playing, representing the feeling that I want to broadcast with the sound. These video clips include 80s action movie scenes, TV footages, futuristic 3D renders, still images etc. There are no endlessly looping or pre-rendered video files, everything is dynamic. And I also have two real-time controlled LED bars that do a neat light show, also in sync with the music.
WHY WOULD I NEED THIS?
Because the retrowave hype is huge right now. There have been a very strong 80s influence around the world since the past few years. In film, from box office filmmakers (Drive, Ready Player One) to crowdfunded projects (Kung Fury, Turbo Kid) the 80s hype is present. In music, artists starting out with retrowave (Perturbator, Carpenter Brut) have reached a stage where they are headlining even non-retro festivals in just a few years. People quickly noticed this, and the scene is growing fast. Wherever you are, there is a high change you can round up the crowd that is pleased with this kind of music.
CAN I LISTEN TO IT SOMEWHERE?
Sure thing. All my music is available through Bandcamp, and you can find it via streaming services too (Spotify, iTunes, Google Play Music etc.).
I’ll be also uploading both my own mixes and some exclusive content to YouTube and SoundCloud. Click the links below to get a glimpse of what this sounds like.
WHERE HAVE YOU PLAYED BEFORE?
You can see the list of all my past shows on the main page. Venues I play that include the following:
- Saint Vitus Bar – New York, USA
- DNA Lounge – San Francisco, USA
- Loop Bar – Melbourne, Australia
- Club Stodoła – Warsaw, Poland
- Smena – Moscow, Russia
- Budapest Park – Budapest, Hungary
- A38 – Budapest, Hungary
WHAT DO YOU REQUIRE TO PLAY?
Just the basics: a stage, a screen, keyboard stands and appropriate lighting and sound system. I bring keyboard(s), controllers, synth modules, and my lights. The exact setup may depend on parameters of the venue, the offered backline and certain circumstances of the event. I am open for any modification/extra request as long as the base requirements for an audiovisual performance are given. These requests shall be discussed separately.
